Lunch in the Heavens: The Himalayas
The clouds were too thick to see through at first.
For lunch, we stopped at a resort at the highest point next to the 108 stupas. We ate traditional Bhutanese foods and hoped that the clouds would clear up enough for us to see the impressive view of the Himalayas that the resort boasts it has. As we ate, the clouds remained strong, but right before we were about to leave, the clouds cleared enough for us to see the view you see at the top of this page.
The resort is a very popular hotel and restaurant during the fall and spring, when the view is clear enough to show the snow capped mountains of the Himalayas in the distance. You can even eat on a terrace where you can view the scene as you eat. Even if the view is clouded, it is still breath-taking, so either way is an amazing experience.
